Studio Photography
Guidelines – General
Studio Photography should add further detail and definition to the visual narrative.
Create intrigue and desire by showing details of the product that are not otherwise visible in standard product photography.
Selected backdrops and surfaces should extend the product’s personality and complement the product without being visually distracting.
Launch Product
Shot on black reflective surface.
Men’s style should be shot by itself profile, toe to the left. Use the left shoe (so the Nike logo appears as a check mark).
If a family shot is required: use 1 men’s and 2 kids’ styles to show the range in sizing. Never shoot all 5 styles together.
Shoes should be styled with a uniform silhouette in mind. Tongues should all be the same height and laces tucked inside of the shoe.
Laydown
Styling should highlight the distinctive visible qualities of the product.
Products should be grouped and organized in a complimentary fashion.
Use lighting to enhance product fabric, textures, and patterns.
Shadows should appear naturally cast onto the surface which the products are shot to communicate logical dimension.
Background surfaces and textures can be used to complement the product and enhance the story.
Props can be used sparingly on occasion to enhance the product story.
On Model
Shot against 9 ft white vinyl.
Styling should stay within brand and adhere to our merchandising principles. If a brand specific option doesn’t exist, supplement with unbranded basics.
